Featuring Amber Champion!

Looking to gain more experience and skills for ocean paddling? Perhaps you want an opportunity to challenge your skills in a safe and supportive environment, or enjoy the opportunity to paddle in tidal waters and gain more comfort and confidence in the ocean environment. Maybe you simply want focused training without the pressure of assessment. If any of this resonates, this program may be perfect for you!

We are excited to welcome the talented Amber Champion from the West Coast to lead this 2-day session in Prince Edward Island. This session will happen right after the East Coast Greenland Camp and can be combined as a great way to boost your learning!

This ocean-based skills program is designed to expose paddlers to more dynamic ocean waters while developing key skills and techniques for paddling in challenging conditions. This program is suitable for Paddle Canada Level-2 (or equivalent skills) paddlers and above.

Paddlers will explore paddling venues that are selected to provide challenge in a supportive and safe environment. One day will be spent on a tidal feature locally known as “The Stew”. This will provide us ample opportunity to work on paddling in tidal currents and rescue and safety techniques in these environments. This contained environment is perfect for pushing your comfort zone and building confidence and competence to prepare you for larger more exposed environments. We will learn tidal theory that is relevant to sea kayakers.

The second day we will plan to head to the coast to explore opportunities for more open waters. We will work and plan around the conditions that mother nature provides, but our intention will be to get into waves and swell to work on our skills. Participants will also have opportunities to develop or sharpen your leadership, safety & rescue, and decision-making on the ocean, depending on where your learning needs to focus.

MEET AMBER!

We are so excited to welcome Amber Champion to the East Coast to share her skill and craft with paddlers.

Amber is a Paddle Canada Level 3 Sea Kayak Instructor Trainer and SUP Instructor Trainer and she shared a little tip of the iceberg about herself. Read below!

DP (1)

I bring over a decade of experience guiding, coaching, and mentoring paddlers across a wide range of environments from the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef, the rugged coastlines of British Columbia and the Polar Regions.

But my work is about more than technical skill. It’s about empowering people to paddle with confidence, to lead with clarity, and to feel at home in dynamic conditions. Whether you're catching your first wave, preparing for instructor certification, or refining your technique in current and surf, my goal is to meet you where you’re at and support your growth with honesty, clarity, and care.
