Intermediate - Level-2 The Intermediate level is equivalent to programming for Paddle Canada Level-2 Skills. This program is suitable to paddlers with a Level-1 certificate or equivalent skills. Some paddlers already with a Level-2 skills may take some programming in this level to further solidify and refine those existing skills to help prepare for more challenging waters. Paddlers must have a comfortable wet-exit and familiar with assisted and self rescue techniques. Ride the tidal bore — and experience one of the most unique paddling environments in the world.

The focus of this session will be understanding and playing in tidal currents with an additional focus of group management and communications.

Cloud 9 Adventures is excited to offer this Rough Water Club session on the iconic Shubenacadie River, home to the legendary Bay of Fundy tides. This program is built for paddlers who want to refine technique, build confidence in dynamic water, and experience the thrill of surfing standing waves formed by some of the strongest tidal currents on Earth.

This 3-hour run begins by catching a ride on the incoming tidal bore, an unforgettable rush as the river reverses beneath you. From there, we use the flooding tide to make our way upriver in search of a variety of tidal races, wave trains, and playful standing waves. Along the way, you’ll work on positioning, timing, edging, ferrying, and dynamic boat control — all essential skills for paddling in fast, changing currents.

Whether you're exploring tidal features for the first time or looking to take your rough-water paddling to the next level, this weekend promises challenge, laughter, and huge smiles. The chance to paddle the highest tides in the world is unlike anything else — a powered-by-nature experience you’ll be talking about long after the river settles back into its usual flow.
